TRANSFORMING ADVERSE SITUATIONS INTO THE PATH
February 24, 2011
7-9pm at the Shambhala Center of Los Angeles, Eagle Rock Center
Motivation is one of the most important elements of Dharma practice, what is known, in Dharma, as Bodhicitta mind. When we confront adverse situations in life, it gives us the opportunity to transform our mind to Bodhicitta mind. This becomes extremely important on the path to liberation. The great Milarepa’s life story is an excellent example of this process.
DEVOTION AND TANTRA
February 25 and February 26, 2011 in Westlake Village, CA
Chhoje Rinpoche: “Tantra is generally known as the swift path to enlightenment. In Buddhism, tantra is the transmutation of our passions and neurosis. So, in general, the essence of tantra is Bodhicitta mind. The key to the tantra is devotion. Leaping into a state of awareness without hesitation or doubt of our ultimate reality requires a fearless approach. That cannot be done without devotion – a fundamental trust in one’s own nature.”
AWAKENING MIND, THE FIELD OF BODHI, A TEACHING ON THE HEART SUTRA
February 7, 2011 at Sharchen Dzong, the Shambhala Meditation Center of San Francisco
The Venerable Chhoje Rinpoche gave a the teaching on the Heart Sutra, the classical Mahayana Buddhist text, known as the Perfection of Wisdom, or Prajnaparamita, the union of emptiness and compassion. It is the second turning of the wheel of Dharma by Buddha Shakyamuni. As Rinpoche says, “In this most essential teaching of Buddha, we open our hearts to discover the enlightened seed within us, which, by its own nature, is so ordinary and so simple that it is contained within the character of each and every being.“ The evening will include an explanation of the meaning of the text, a short period of meditation, and a question and answer session.

The recent retreat with Chhoje Rinpoche entitled AWAKENING MIND: THE FIELD OF BODHI, a teaching on the Heart Sutra offered participants an amazing foundation and myriad practical applications for Buddhist practice. Click here for more information.
