Rinpoche’s Vision for Chumur

Chhoje Rinpoche not only aspires to preserve Chumur’s art and traditional architecture, but also to provide a thriving center for Buddhist practice where people can dedicate themselves fully to the practice of Buddhism.

Rinpoche aims to educate and support the Chumur monks fully so they can foster peace and happiness in the world through the rich teachings of Buddhism. Training the monks well also ensures the continuation of the Dharma and supports the lay Sangha.

Rinpoche hopes that in the future Chumur Monastery will house up to 100 monks. To this end, Chumur must undergo substantial renovation to provide a functional standard of shelter and warmth, to enable it to offer a high caliber of education so it may attract new generations of monks to live and study at the monastery.
